‘A Sustainable World with Molybdenum’ brings together many different examples of molybdenum’s important contribution to global sustainable development including energy efficiency, low carbon power generation, environmental protection, resource conservation and quality of life.
IMOA members, who include producers and processors, traders and users, share a common interest in the use of molybdenum as a sustainable material in all its diverse applications. Our ‘Sustainability Vision', which is endorsed by our members, reflects the principles upon which our ‘MoRE FOR LESS’ program is founded.
IMOA is an associate member of ICMM, which brings together 21 mining and metals companies as well as 34 national and regional mining associations and global commodity associations to maximize the contribution of mining, minerals and metals to sustainable development.
What is sustainable development?
Sustainable development is a pattern of growth in which resource use aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs may be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come. The three main pillars of sustainable development are widely recognised as Ecology, Economy and Society. Ecology encompasses impacts such as environmental performance, resource use, energy efficiency & production and recycling, whilst Economy examines dimensions such as the supply chain, lifecycle and materials performance. The Social pillar covers the ways in which molybdenum contributes to the health, safety and well being of people.
