The German edition of ‘Practical Guidelines for the Fabrication of Austenitic Stainless Steels’ brochure is now available

Verarbeitung austenitischer nichtrostender Stähle – Ein praktischer Leitfaden, the German translation of the recently updated Practical Guidelines for the Fabrication of Austenitic Stainless Steels, is now available to download from the IMOA website.

The publication provides information on the properties, performance and fabrication of the whole range of austenitic stainless steels, from the standard grades all the way up to the High Performance Austenitic Stainless Steels (HPASS). HPASS are highly corrosion resistant and obtain their improved performance through alloying with higher amounts of molybdenum, chromium, nickel and nitrogen. More complex in their metallurgy than standard austenitic stainless steels, engineers and fabricators need a thorough knowledge of their characteristics in order to specify and fabricate HPASS successfully, so they perform well in the field.

The German translation, co-produced by IMOA with the Informationsstelle Edelstahl Rostfrei (ISER) (the German Stainless Steel Development Association), Nickel Institute and the International Chromium Development Association (ICDA), includes information on all recent developments in stainless steels and offers detailed information on the metallurgy of the full range of austenitic stainless steels, as well as the mechanical and physical properties of these sustainable materials. Available in German, English and Mandarin Chinese, it offers clear and practical guidelines on cutting, machining, joining and finishing to ensure fabricators produce high quality installations and equipment, and engineers have the information to effectively use these materials.

General information for media

IMOA is a non profit trade association, representing the majority of the molybdenum industry worldwide. It works to raise awareness about the unique properties of molybdenum, its beneficial effects on materials performance, its safety in use and its contribution to sustainable development.

Molybdenum is added to alloy steels to improve strength, toughness, hardenability and weldability for numerous applications in the automotive, shipbuilding, construction, mining, chemical, oil & gas and energy generation industries. In stainless steels and superalloys, it improves corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance and finds uses in many industrial applications. It is also used in a variety of products from catalysts and lubricants to pigments and paint.

IMOA has a strict antitrust compliance policy which delegates of all meetings are required to observe. All such meetings are observed by legal counsel.
